16/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 16 May, the Council of the EU approved the political agreement reached with the European Parliament on 30 November 2021 on the Data Governance Act (DGA). As a reminder, the DGA is intended to put in place mechanisms to facilitate the re-use of certain types of protected public sector data and to develop data altruism, while enhancing trust in data intermediation services (see EUROPE 12844/21). On the European Parliament side, MEPs, meeting in plenary session in Strasbourg, approved the interinstitutional agreement on 6 April (see EUROPE 12927/11). The new rules will have to be applied within 15 months of the entry into force of the text. (TM)
