13/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – “The EU condemns the terrorist attack” that killed 8 people in the Savanes region of northern Togo on 11 May. In a statement issued on Friday 13 May, the spokesperson of the European External Action Service (EEAS) expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery. “This is the first time that a deadly attack of this type has taken place in Togo. The extension of the presence and action of terrorist groups to the countries of the Gulf of Guinea is a reality. Efforts to counter this phenomenon must therefore be intensified,” underlined the EEAS spokesperson. He asserted that, “the European Union remains more committed than ever to the prevention of radicalisation and the fight against terrorism alongside Togo and the countries of the region”. (AN)
