13/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Builders Confederation (EBC) sent a letter on Thursday 12 May asking the President and the First Vice-President of the European Commission to take urgent action in favour of SMEs in the face of the sharp rise in raw material and energy prices. According to the organisation, more and more SMEs are forced to limit or even stop their activities for this reason. He urged the European institution to encourage Member States to put in place concrete measures, such as: - financial support for SMEs; - a European-wide energy cost cap; - to order contracting authorities to pay compensation to companies for the increase in the price of materials; - to prioritise the payment of construction SMEs by public authorities.
