13/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – The EU High Representative, Josep Borrell, announced on Friday 13 May the reopening of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue, as a result of the mission by the political director of the European External Action Service, Enrique Mora (see EUROPE 12950/18). “His mission (...) has gone better than expected: the negotiations were stalled, and now they have been reopened”, he explained from the G7, adding that “the negotiations were blocked and they have been de-blocked. It means that there is a perspective of reaching a final agreement”. The talks had been stalled for 2 months because of a disagreement over the Iranian ‘Revolutionary Guards’. According to the High Representative, Mr Mora explained to the Iranians that this could not continue and “the answer has been positive enough in order to believe that we can relaunch the work between the parties”.
