26/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 26 April, the European Commission launched a public consultation to evaluate the effectiveness of the current rules on permitted weights and dimensions for commercial vehicles in the EU. Faced with a market that is considered to be fragmented and in a context where there is “insufficient” use of alternative-fuel vehicles and zero-emission vehicles, the European Commission wishes to focus on promoting and ensuring the reduction of emissions from road transport, ensuring the free movement of goods, improving compliance with cross-border traffic rules, and maintaining road safety.
