Brussels, 26/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – “Whatever the new shareholder, Twitter will have to adapt fully to European rules”, warned the European Commissioner for Internal Market, Thierry Breton, to AFP on Tuesday 26 April, as the social network was bought by the American businessman Elon Musk. The statement comes as the Council of the EU and the European Parliament reached a provisional political agreement on Digital Services Act (DSA) (see EUROPE 12938/6) late Friday night 22 April to Saturday 23 April. “Whether it’s online harassment, the sale of counterfeit goods, child pornography or calls for terrorist acts, Twitter will have to adapt to our European regulations, which do not exist in the United States”, added Mr Breton.
