The European Commission announced on Thursday 17 March the launch of a new public platform, called ‘Kohesio’, which compiles for European citizens all the information on more than 1.5 million projects in the EU under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Cohesion Fund (CF), and the European Social Fund (ESF) since 2014.
According to the institution, never before has a platform of this scale been set up. “Thanks to ‘Kohesio’, cohesion policy is becoming even more open and transparent”, welcomed the Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira.
“With just a few clicks”, European citizens can now access EU investments in their regions and cities, she explained. This new tool complements the Cohesion Report (see EUROPE 12887/2) and the Cohesion Open Data platform , the Commissioner said.
For his part, the Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, stressed that it will be possible to see the action of the cohesion policy within the context of receiving refugees fleeing Ukraine from the Russian invasion (see EUROPE 12910/4).
The platform includes: - standardised data from the 2014-2020 funding period; - links to the respective programmes and funds; - standardised data on the 500,000 project beneficiaries; - data covering over 300 operational programmes; - an interactive map allowing to find the data geographically.
The platform should be translated into all European Parliament languages soon, the institution says.
