17/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, symbolically handed over the keys of part of one of the European Parliament buildings in Brussels (Station Europe, the former railway station on Place du Luxembourg) to the NGO Promote Ukraine on Thursday 17 March. This ‘Ukrainian civil society platform’ will coordinate the actions of Ukrainian civil society, including the organisation of events or press conferences, as well as offering psychological and administrative assistance to Ukrainian refugees who have arrived in Belgium, for example with finding a job or registering with the municipality, said the European Parliament in a statement. The building will be available until 30 June, with the possibility of extending this. At the inauguration, Ms Metsola said that the European Parliament was helping the Verkhovna Rada – the Ukrainian Parliament – with logistics, security in order that it could continue its work. (CG)
