09/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – Sixteen trade associations, led by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, called on the co-legislators on Wednesday 9 March to stay close to the European Commission’s original proposal in the DSA negotiations (see EUROPE 12900/18). In short, the signatories of the joint letter consider it necessary to maintain the horizontal nature of the text and advise that the issues of political advertising and product safety should be addressed through “more appropriate vertical legislation”. They also encourage co-legislators to remain flexible on the issue of targeted advertising, which “has benefits for a much wider group of stakeholders, including consumers”. In addition, the signatories want the DSA to be “flexible and future-proof to enable rapid innovation”. See the letter: https://aeur.eu/f/nr (TM)
