09/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 9 March, the French subsidiary of the Russian state-owned media network RT filed an appeal with the Court of Justice of the European Union to overturn its ban on broadcasting in the EU. This decision was adopted by the EU on 1 March as part of the sanctions against Moscow (see EUROPE 12902/9). As a reminder, the broadcast ban concerns “RT English”, “RT UK”, “RT Germany”, “RT France'”, “RT Spanish” and Sputnik and affects broadcasting via cable, satellite, IPTV, internet service providers, and video sharing platforms and apps. These sanctions, says the decision published in the Official Journal of the EU, will be “maintained until the aggression against Ukraine is brought to an end”. (TM)
