09/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – Spain will have to explain itself before the Court of Justice of the European Union its failure to fully transpose the directive (2013/59/Euratom) laying down basic safety standards for health protection against the dangers arising from exposure to ionising radiation, decided the European Commission on Wednesday 9 February. This directive, applicable since February 2018, sets basic standards to protect the general public, workers and patients against the dangers arising from exposure to ionising radiation. It also includes emergency preparedness and response provisions that were strengthened following the Fukushima nuclear accident. (MB)
