09/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and a consortium of consultants are launching a European algae stakeholder platform called EU4Algae, the Commission announced on Wednesday 9 February. The aim of the platform is to accelerate the development of a European algae industry and to promote algae for nutrition and other uses among consumers and businesses in the EU. Outside the culinary field, algae have become a raw material of choice for sustainable industrial applications such as biodegradable plastics. In addition, their production helps to improve the health of the oceans by reducing carbon dioxide, phosphorus and nitrogen in marine ecosystems. More information: https://aeur.eu/f/96 (LC)
