European Commission and OECD-INFE publish a joint framework for improving individuals’ financial literacy

11/01/2022 (Agence Europe)The European Commission and the OECD’s International Network on Financial Education (OECD-INFE) published on Tuesday 11 January the joint financial competence framework, which aims to improve the financial skills of individuals. It will enable them to “make sound financial decisions”, the partners said, and thus support the development of public policies, financial education programmes and educational materials by Member States, educational institutions and the financial sector. It will also facilitate the exchange of good practice between policy makers and stakeholders in the EU. “This framework is a key part of our Capital Markets Union Action Plan and brings us closer to completing a single market where consumers can safely navigate capital markets ”, said Commissioner for Financial Services Mairead McGuinness.
