EU Council sanctions Wagner Group for human rights violations

The Council of the EU decided on Monday 13 December to sanction the Wagner Group, “a Russia-based unincorporated private military entity”.

“The Wagner Group is responsible for serious human rights abuses in Ukraine, Syria, Libya, the Central African Republic (CAR), Sudan and Mozambique, which include torture and extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions and killings”, says the EU Council decision, published on 13 December in the EU’s Official Journal.
