13/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU welcomed in conclusions on Monday 13 December the overall progress made in the implementation of the Civilian CSDP Compact, both by Member States and at EU level by the EEAS and the Commission services. This compact was adopted in November 2018 (see EUROPE 12141/17). The EU Council reaffirms its full commitment to making the Civilian CSDP “more efficient, effective, flexible and responsive, as well as more integrated”. The institution highlights the contribution that the civilian dimension of CSDP can make in response to new and emerging threats and challenges. According to the conclusions, the EEAS and the Commission will assist Member States in developing and providing the necessary capabilities, means and expertise to undertake the full range of civilian missions and will seek to increase complementarity and synergies.
