13/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and the Polish state development bank BGK signed, on Monday 13 December, a €35 million agreement to help EU Member States provide Covid-19 vaccines to Eastern Partnership countries. Poland will, in particular, help match the available vaccine doses to be shared by Member States with the evolving needs of the Eastern Partnership countries and oversee all necessary arrangements with vaccine manufacturers. According to the BGK, between two and twelve million vaccines will reach people in need in the partner countries. In case of resale, the BGK will use the EU contribution to compensate donor Member States for the vaccines on a non-profit basis. The programme will run until June 2023 or until the EU contribution has run out. (CG)
