07/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – The aim of the EU Civil Protection Knowledge Network—launched on Tuesday, 7 December, by European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič—is to better cope with disasters by sharing knowledge. Through this network, experts, practitioners, policymakers, researchers, trainers, and volunteers can access partnerships, collaborative opportunities, skills, and best practices at every stage of the disaster management cycle. “To face current and future crises, we need to become better in involving experts, policymakers, and researchers in our prevention, preparedness, and response actions”, the Commissioner stressed. Through the Knowledge Network, the EU Civil Protection Mechanism runs a training programme for experts from all over Europe, specifically aiming to improve the coordination and assessment of responses in the event of a disaster.
