07/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – In a report published on Tuesday, 7 December, on the ‘Programme of options specific to the remote and insular nature of the outermost regions’ (POSEI), the European Commission states that the overall performance of the POSEI programmes over the 2015–2019 period is rather positive, especially when it comes to their ability to address the agricultural challenges specific to the geographical location and permanent constraints of the outermost regions. The scheme has proven to be an efficient instrument for strengthening local agricultural and food production and mitigating the risk of abandonment of agricultural activities. For the 2023–2027 period, co-legislators decided that the POSEI scheme would not be changed and that EU funding for this programme will be maintained at its current level.
