07/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – Negotiators from the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union will meet in Strasbourg on 14 December, at around 9 pm, in the hope of reaching an agreement on the revision of the EU regulation (347/2013) on trans-European energy networks (TEN-E). Proposed by the European Commission at the end of 2020 (see EUROPE 12623/3, 12618/9), this revision aims to redefine the rules governing the selection of priority trans-European energy projects, in order to bring them more in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal. In the previous (third) inter-institutional (‘trilogue’) negotiating session, the Parliament and the Council failed to reach a compromise, partly due to diverging views on the treatment of fossil gas projects (see EUROPE 12839/28).
