07/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – French President Emmanuel Macron, who will officially present on Thursday, December 9, the priorities of the French Presidency of the Council of the EU, announced on Monday 6 December that it will focus on three areas: recovery, strength and belonging (see EUROPE 12835/13). At a debate to mark the 25th anniversary of the Jacques Delors Institute, Macron stressed “the need for recovery in response to the crisis”. He also called for the consolidation of “a Europe that can make its own military, technological, cultural and value choices”. According to the President, it is necessary to know what Europeans want to become in relation to the American and Chinese models. He added that it was necessary to build “a Europe that can choose for itself, choose with whom to cooperate and with whom to break away”. France will hold the Presidency of the EU Council from 1 January to 30 June 2022. (CG)
