Letters of formal notice sent to three countries for non-compliance with rules on landing obligations

The European Commission decided on Friday 12 November to open infringement proceedings against Belgium, Ireland, and the Netherlands for failure to comply with obligations to control the landing of fish catches.

These rules are provided for in the 2013 Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) Regulations and the Controls Regulations in order to stop the wasteful practice of discarding unwanted catches at sea.
