20/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 19 October, the European Parliament approved (589 votes in favour, 89 against and 22 abstentions) the EU Council’s position on draft amending budget No 4 for 2021, which updates the revenue side of the budget in light of decision 2020/2053 on the EU’s own resources system. The main changes introduced by the decision are: - raising the own resources ceilings; - an increase in the rate of duty collection costs for Member States (25% instead of 20%); - a new own resource based on non-recycled plastic packaging waste and the modification of the gross reductions based on the Gross National Income (GNI) of own resource for Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden.
