20/10/2021 (Agence Europe) – On 20 and 21 October, the European Commission is hosting the ‘Hack4Oceans’ event, which allows university students from across Europe to create innovative solutions to key challenges facing the oceans and marine environment. Participants will develop new ideas around marine litter, alternative food from the oceans, climate change and the protection and restoration of coastal ecosystems. Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries Virginijus Sinkevičius said that by involving young academics, “we hope not only to find innovative solutions to some of our most urgent challenges, but also to create more awareness and a sense of urgency among Europeans to act now and protect our ocean”.
