28/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 28 September, the US Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro N. Mayorkas, named Croatia as a new participant in the ‘Visa Waiver Program’. According to a statement from the US administration, this implies that “by December 1, 2021, the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) will be updated to allow citizens and nationals of Croatia to apply to travel to the United States for tourism or business purposes for up to 90 days without having to obtain a U.S. visa”. “The designation of Croatia as a participant in the VWP is an important step towards strengthening the long-standing economic and security cooperation between the United States and Croatia”. At the moment, the US still requires visas for Croatian, Bulgarian, Cypriot and Romanian nationals in the EU. (SP)
