08/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU formally adopted, by written procedure expiring on 6 September, its position on the draft general budget of the European Union for the year 2022. A draft budget 2022 of €167.6 billion in commitment appropriations and €169.9 billion in payment appropriations is planned. The total amount of payment appropriations foreseen in the EU Council’s position on the 2022 EU draft budget corresponds to 1.14% of the EU’s gross national income (GNI) (see EUROPE 12762/19). For the heading ‘Cohesion and Values’, the EU Council accepts both the level of commitment and payment appropriations (proposed by the European Commission). Reductions were made in research (-€319 million) and in the ‘Neighbourhood and the World’ heading (-€501 million). Details: https://bit.ly/2WYxC8D (LC)
