08/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 7 July, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy said he was “shocked by the assassination of the Haitian president”, Jovenel Moïse, who was shot dead the same day by a heavily armed group in his residence in Port-au-Prince. “We had an exchange at a diplomatic forum just three weeks ago. This crime creates a risk of instability and a spiral of violence”, said the head of EU diplomacy on his Twitter account. He added, “The perpetrators of this assassination must be found and brought to justice.” That same evening, four “mercenaries” involved were killed and two others arrested, according to the Haitian police, quoted by AFP.
