10/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union tabled a new draft compromise on the revision of the EU regulation (347/2013) on the Trans-European Energy Network (TEN-E) on Wednesday 9 June, 2 days before a meeting of the Member States’ Energy Ministers, who will try to reach an agreement on the dossier. The document, which is very similar to the previous version (see EUROPE 12727/4), remains unchanged regarding Article 24. The cornerstone of the negotiations between Member States (see EUROPE 12732/16), this article provides for a transitional period until 31 December 2029 for retrofitted gas assets for the transport or storage of a predefined blending of hydrogen and natural gas. However, the Presidency intends to propose an amendment to Article 24 at the meeting of ministers in order to define more precisely the criteria for funding blending projects.
