01/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – The German Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday 1 June that the second round of the UN-sponsored Libya Peace Conference will be held in Berlin on 23 June. The participants - including the new Libyan transitional government - will take stock of the political transition in Libya since the previous conference on 19 January 2020 and “the next necessary steps towards a sustainable stabilisation”, the German Ministry said in a statement (see EUROPE 12412/11). The discussions should include preparations for the 24 December 2021 elections, the withdrawal of foreign troops and mercenaries from Libya and steps towards the creation of unified Libyan security forces, according to the Ministry.
