01/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – Euro area annual inflation is expected to be 2.0% in May 2021, up from 1.6% in April, according to a flash estimate published, on Tuesday 1 June, by the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat). Among the main components of euro area inflation, energy is expected to have the highest annual rate in May (13.1%, compared with 10.4% in April), followed by services (1.1%, compared with 0.9% in April). The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for the euro area was 8.0% in April, down from 8.1% in March, according to Eurostat. In the EU, this rate was 7.3% last month, unchanged from the previous month. (MB)
