12/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – As reported by Reuters on 12 May, France has indicated that the planned financial services agreement with the UK could be delayed if the Fisheries situation is not resolved. “The UK must fully implement the agreements that it has signed on Fisheries and other important issues, which it is not doing at the moment. There can be no positive development until these difficulties are resolved”, a source confirmed. “The Member States are united on this issue.” At the Special Meeting of the European Council on 24 and 25 May, European leaders will discuss the implementation of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the Withdrawal Agreement. The EU and the United Kingdom have reached an agreement on a framework for cooperation regarding financial services (see EUROPE 12688/20, 12632/9). (SP)
