12/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 10 May, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg signed an agreement between the Alliance and the Austrian government on the legal status of the NATO Liaison Office in Vienna. In a statement, the Alliance said that the agreement, once in force, will pave the way for the formal establishment of the NATO Liaison Office to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and other international organisations in Vienna. “During the ceremony, the Secretary General welcomed Austria’s contribution to the close ties between the EU and NATO and its role as a host country for the OSCE”, NATO said. Austria is not a member of the Alliance, but it cooperates with it, including in peace support operations. (Original version in French by CG)
