06/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – Contrary to what was announced in our newsletter dated Thursday 6 May 2021 (see EUROPE 12713/34), the European Parliament will vote in plenary session on 17 May on the draft EU Council decision to conclude, on behalf of the European Union, an agreement on time limits for the provision of manned aircraft between the European Union, the United States, Iceland, and Norway. The agreement, which is intended to confirm clear and non-restrictive arrangements for the leasing of aircraft with crew between the EU and the US, while “ maximising benefits for consumers, airlines, workers and communities on both sides of the Atlantic”, also stipulates that no time limits on the operation of a lease may be set by the US or the EU.
