The Court of Justice of the European Union confirmed, in a ruling on Thursday 6 May, that the European Commission’s decision in 2013 to restrict the use of three bee-killing neonicotinoid pesticides was justified on the grounds of the precautionary principle (case C-499/18 P).
The restrictions imposed concern imidacloprid from Bayer CropScience, clothianidin from Takeda Chemical Industries and Bayer CropScience and thiamethoxam from Syngenta(see EUROPE B10852A17).
