27/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday, 26 April, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the effectiveness of the Union Customs Code. Adopted in 2013, it includes a main regulation and a series of legal acts laying down supplementary rules and procedural rules for its implementation as well as a work programme for the development and deployment of a set of electronic systems necessary for carrying out customs processes. As the institution previously announced in its Customs Union Action Plan in September (see EUROPE 12569/4), the European Commission will carry out an interim evaluation in 2021 to determine whether the Customs Code is effective and whether it has achieved its objectives. Responses to this consultation will inform the conclusions of this evaluation. Interested parties have until 19 July to submit their comments at https://bit.ly/2SbucND (MF)
