27/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 27 April, MEPs gave their support to a draft delegated regulation of the European Commission which should save time in the regulatory approval of vaccines adapted to Covid-19 (see EUROPE 12699/8). This initiative anticipates the possible updating of some of the vaccines already approved by the EU to be more effective against variants. The Parliament therefore aligned itself with the position of its Committee on Public Health (ENVI). The latter had recommended - by 76 votes to 3 and one abstention - to support the European Commission’s proposal as it stands. On the EU Council side, the 27 delegations had also decided, at the beginning of April, by written procedure, not to oppose the delegated act drafted by the Commission.
