27/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – In a press release issued on Tuesday 27 April, Eurospace announced the launch of a new working group for the space sector on chemicals strategy for sustainable development. The aim is to implement the European Commission’s strategy published in October (see EUROPE 12580/16), which aims to improve the sustainability of chemicals. In this context, the revision of the REACH regulation on the registration and evaluation of chemical substances is being considered by the European Commission. This text is of “crucial” importance for the space sector. “While these amendments may offer some possible benefits for the sector, they also raise a number of serious concerns with regard to regulatory predictability, obsolescence and supply chain risks”, Eurospace said in its statement. The “open” group has a mandate until the end of 2023. (PH)
