27/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday, 26 April, European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi announced that she had written to Slovenian Minister of Justice Lilijana Kozlovič in order to ask her to nominate candidates for the post of European Delegated Prosecutor for Slovenia as soon as possible. The national procedure to select two European Delegated Prosecutors for Slovenia was, in fact, finalised in early December 2020, but 5 months later, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) still has not received any nominations. In a statement, Ms Kövesi expressed her “deep concern” over this situation, particularly in view of the fact that the expected start date of EPPO operations is 1 June (see EUROPE 12694/14) and that the nominated candidates need to be appointed, equipped, and trained before they can actually work for the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
