19/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 19 April the European Commission launched a consultation on law enforcement cooperation in the EU and possible improvements. The results will feed into the Commission’s forthcoming proposal for an EU police cooperation code, which will aim to strengthen and modernise cooperation between EU police services by replacing the existing patchwork of various EU multilateral cooperation tools and agreements, the Commission explains in a statement. In a blog post, Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson noted that 70% of criminal networks in the EU are active in at least three Member States and that 65% of these groups are composed of people of different European nationalities. The consultation runs until 14 June. Link: https://bit.ly/32uHczw (SP)
