29/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – SMEunited welcomed on Thursday 25 March the launch of the consultation on the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (see EUROPE 12664/14). The organisation believes that the third option presented in the impact assessment, namely to amend the directive to translate the actions proposed in the renovation wave strategy into legislation, was the right course of action. For the organisation, however, setting a mandatory European renovation rate is not the way forward, due to geographical and meteorological differences. It calls for the incentives provided under the strategy to remain technology-neutral in all cases. For SMEunited, in addition to financing instruments, fiscal incentives for households and companies should be a priority. (PH)
