France to reach agreement with European Commission on support for Air France

29/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – France is “on the cusp of reaching an agreement” with the European Commission to release new aid to Air France, French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Monday 29 March (see EUROPE 12479/5). Negotiations with the European Commission are about to be completed, he said on France Info. “It’s a matter of days, because for me, time is now running out”, he added, pointing out that the negotiations had been difficult on the quid pro quo demanded of Air France in exchange for the public bailout. The company is required to pay compensation to avoid distortion of competition (transfer of airport slots). (LC)
