29/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – In response to Moldova’s request for assistance from the Civil Protection Mechanism, the EU is coordinating the shipment of 50,400 doses of Covid-19 vaccine from Romania, the European Commission announced on Monday 29 March. For this shipment, the institution finances up to 75% of the transport costs. In addition, the EU is mobilising medical supplies for North Macedonia and Montenegro through the RescEU strategic reserve of medical equipment. This reserve, housed in Germany, Belgium, Greece and Romania, will also be mobilised to deliver 1.2 million items of personal protective equipment to North Macedonia and Montenegro. In a statement, the European Commissioner for Civil Protection, Janez Lenarčič, “thanks all Member States for their solidarity”. (AN)
