12/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – EU Member States are currently working on the adoption of additional sanctions under the sanctions regime on human rights violations (see EUROPE 12617/2). According to diplomats quoted in the media, the ambassadors of the member states of the Political and Security Committee (PSC) discussed a list of about ten people and three or four entities from six countries: China, Russia, North Korea, Libya, Eritrea and Southern Sudan. According to the Wall Street Journal, four individuals and one Chinese entity linked to human rights abuses in Xinjiang are involved. These measures could be adopted before or at the Foreign Affairs Council on 22 March. (CG)
