The Ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) appointed on Friday 19 February four Judges and one Advocate-General to the Court of Justice of the EU and one Judge to the General Court of the EU.
Miroslav Gavalec of Slovakia and Octavia Spineanu-Matei of Romania have been appointed judges at the Court of Justice for a first term of office. The terms of office as judges of the Finn Niilo Jääskinen and the Dane Lars Bay Larsen were renewed.
The term of office of the German Juliane Kokott as Advocate General at the Court of Justice has also been renewed.
The four Judges and the Advocate-General of the Court of Justice have been appointed for a term of office beginning on 7 October 2021 and ending on 6 October 2027.
These appointments are part of the partial renewal of the composition of the Court of Justice, as the terms of office of 14 Judges and six Advocates-General expire on 6 October 2021.
General Court of the European Union. The Czech Republic’s David Petrlík has been appointed judge at the General Court of the EU to replace Jan Passer, who has been appointed judge at the Court of Justice, for the remainder of his term of office, which runs until 31 August 2025.
