19/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 19 February, the European Commission adopted a decision (https://bit.ly/2M4V7I0 ) to extend by three months the periods for collecting statements of support for European Citizens’ Initiatives. For the collection of statements of support for an initiative that started between 1 February 2021 and the date of adoption of this Decision, the maximum duration of the collection period has been extended until 1 May 2022. The conditions allowing for this further extension are the same: at least a quarter of the Member States or a number of Member States representing more than 35% of the Union’s population are applying measures in response to the Covid-19 pandemic which severely limit the ability of organisers to collect statements of support on paper.
