11/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 11 February, the European Union and the World Health Organization launched a €40 million programme covering all phases of the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccine and vaccinations in the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). This three-year programme, which is funded by the EU and implemented by the WHO Regional Office, will strengthen local preparedness and availability so that they can receive and administer vaccines efficiently, including those from the Covax Facility and using mechanisms for sharing vaccines with EU Member States. It includes essential logistical support for management of vaccine supply chains, training of health managers and medical staff, as well as monitoring of vaccination data and safety. (CG)
