24/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 24 November, the European Commission approved the application for ‘Würzburger Stein-Berg’ wine from Germany to be included in the community’s protected designation of origin (PDO) register. ‘Würzburger Stein-Berg’ is a designation that includes white wines produced in the Würzburg area of Bavaria. The close proximity of the river Main, combined with the nearby urban microclimate of the city of Würzburg, gives this wine the characteristics that determine its quality. The wines produced from the grapes grown in the area are mellow, harmonious, round and deep, with flinty aromas and flavours. This latest designation will join the 1,176 protected designations of origin that have already been registered for wines. (LC)
