24/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday, 23 November, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU worked on the European Social Fund Plus for the 2021–2027 period. This was the first interinstitutional meeting at the political level since the changes made following the pandemic (see EUROPE 12495/3). According to reports, discussions mainly focused on thematic concentrations, notably on social inclusion (co-legislators are reportedly heading towards 25% of funding dedicated to this area) and youth unemployment. On the latter issue, the European Parliament would like 15%, whereas the EU Council would like 10%. The date of the next meeting is not yet known. (PH)
