T&E denounces much higher emissions for plug-in hybrids than those claimed by manufacturers

Brussels, 23/11/2020 (Agence Europe)Transport & Environment (T&E ), a European organisation advocating cleaner transport, published a study on Monday 23 November stating that CO2 emissions from new models of plug-in hybrid cars (BMW X5, Volvo XC60 and Mitsubishi Outlander) are 28% to 89% higher than those announced by the manufacturers. T&E is therefore calling on Member States to end their purchase subsidies and tax exemptions for these types of cars. “These vehicles are real climate and health bombs. Let’s not wait until season 2 of Dieselgate to act !”, said the chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport (TRAN), Karima Delli (Greens/EFA, France). The MEP called on the European Commissioner for Internal Market, Thierry Breton, and Vice-President Frans Timmermans to take urgent action. To view the study: https://bit.ly/370Lv7I (PH)
