EU extends sanctions for unauthorised drilling activities by one year

06/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 6 November, the Council of the EU adopted a decision extending by one year, until 12 November 2021, the existing framework for restrictive measures in response to Turkey’s unauthorised drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean (see EUROPE 12595/17). Currently, two individuals linked to the Turkish oil company Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) are subject to an asset freeze and an EU travel ban (see EUROPE 12435/4). (CG)
