06/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – Member States’ representatives to the EU on Wednesday 4 November validated the agreement reached during the previous week’s interinstitutional negotiations on compliance with international trade rules. The report, supported by MEP Marie-Pierre Vedrenne (Renew Europe, France), will strengthen the EU’s ability to sanction non-Member States that do not respect international trade rules. In particular, it will make it possible to extend the application of customs duties to services and intellectual property rights (see EUROPE 12592/14). The agreement will be put to a vote in the parliamentary committee on International Trade on Tuesday 10 November. (Original version in French by Léa Marchal)
